Greenscroll would like to give a quick shout out to some recently-celebrated Toronto greenies. The finalists have been announced for the 2010 Green Toronto Awards. Outstanding Toronto-based individuals, organizations and companies have a chance to win in nine different categories of environmental achievement.
Speaking of great, here are the nominees in three of the categories that most peaked my interest: For a full list, click here.
LEADERSHIP - (recognizes efforts that go above and beyond the norm):
Evergreen
Partners in Project Green, Greater Toronto Airports Authority
Toronto Environmental Alliance
YOUTH – (this award is to recognize young people who display leadership in greening projects):
Green Collar Corps
Maplewood High School’s EcoTeam
Martingrove Collegiate Institute’s EcoTeam
GREEN ROOF – (recognizes contribution to a healthy and beautiful city through the environmental, economic and social benefits of green roofs and walls):
Drum Artz Canada
ESRI Canada
YMCA of Greater Toronto
You can learn a little more about a nominee if you click the link. An even better way to learn more would be attended the award show on April 23, 2010. Mayor David Miller will be attended (among others) and there will even be a band, Dala. I was lucky enough to hear Toronto-based Dala live and they are great.
The 2010 Green Toronto Award judges sure have their work cut out for them. I look forward to their decisions.
