Welcome Nathan! 1

Greenscroll already has its first volunteer and his name is Nathan Vexler; he will be helping out with business development and spreading the word. His bio is below:

Nathan has found the path of social entrepreneurship most rewarding. Currently an undergraduate student in Systems Design Engineering at University of Waterloo, Nathan currently serves on the board of Radio Waterloo Inc and volunteers with Engineers Without Borders and the Laurel Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. To help pay the bills, he is on a co-operative education work term conducting Research and Development on campus at the residence internet service provider. Previously, he has interned at Xandros and Agfa Healthcare.

Nathan first found his taste for Social Entrepreneurship at his college's newspaper, The Marianopolis PaperCut. Initially writing a column focusing often on environmental issues, his enthusiasm and vision led to his appointment as Co-Editor-In-Chief. During his tenure, he pushed through massive technology change which helped increase the paper's impact; his efforts brought him recognition with a Student Life Award.

Nathan brought the same passion for positive impact to Waterloo. Nathan quickly found a home at Engineers Without Borders in the High School Outreach and fund-raising programs. Eventually, he returned to his first love: technology and media; however, when he first joined CKMS-FM as a DJ in January 2008, he found himself at a station fighting for its political survival. Feeling helpless as the station lost most of its funding in a February 2008 referendum, Nathan vowed to help keep on the fight.

In his following work term, he forwent paid employment volunteering full-time as Special Projects Coordinator; he focused on developing technology-driven projects while also recruiting, training, networking and promoting. His efforts led to a seat on the board of the station. Nathan brings to Greenscroll the same tenacity that is helping push Radio Waterloo Inc. back into the black and beyond.
