DoGooder Plug-in 1

Published on February 26, 2010

Check out this cool little green plug-in from DoGood that allows you to support green initiatives with your web browsing.  The plug-in blocks generic website advertising and displays socially responsible campaigns and green initiatives instead.  Click here to learn more or download the plug-in.  It’s free!

How does being a DoGooder work?  (You mean your mother didn’t teach you?)  After you install the DoGooder plug-in, the company will donate 50% of the profits from any money generated by your browsing to deserving, green causes such as the David Suzuki Foundation and Livestrong.  You can even suggest a deserving company to DoGooder.

I’m excited about the plug-in.  If I never see another web ad for weight-loss with ‘fat’ and ‘thin’ cartoons, another SUV ad or another page convincing me to move into a retirement condo, I really won’t be sad.  Okay, that last one is my fault – I lied about my age by 40 years on my Facebook page, and targeting advertisers are practically working themselves into a fit about my retirement real estate situation.   (I’m 30.)

Maybe it’s not a perfect comparison, but I would rather support green initiatives and positive social change.  In other words, I’d rather be a DoGooder.
